If you are a beginner and don’t know where to start, you have arrived at the right place. Desiring healthy, lustrous hair and achieving that is not as complex as it may seem. The foundation of achieving such beautiful hair is a hair care routine. We all are unique, and in the same way, our hair type, texture, porosity and length are also different. Whatever has suited my hair may not suit yours.
So, before starting a hair care routine, we need to keep in mind all the factors that will help our hair grow beautifully.

In this blog, I will guide you through the basic hair-care routine through which you can customize a hair-care regime that will suit your hair type.

Understanding hair type.

The first step to beginning your hair care routine starts with understanding your hair type. Whether you have straight, wavy or curly hair, knowing your hair type will help you select the proper hair care products and treatments that your hair requires. There are mainly 4 types of hair,

  • Straight hair
  • wavy hair
  • curly hair
  • Coily hair

Each hair type possesses some unique characteristics and concerns, such as straight hair having less volume, wavy hair getting a lot of frizz, curly and curly hair being dry and unruly.
Understanding the hair type will help you acknowledge the cause and how to make it manageable.

Cleansing and conditioning are the fundamentals of a hair care routine. Start using a gentle shampoo that suits your hair type and follow it up with a conditioner.

For example,

  • For curly or oily hair, both clarifying and moisturizing shampoo is required.

  • Always check for the ingredients. Avoid using SLS, silicon, paraben and fragrance-based products because using sulphate-based products in the long run can damage hair aggressively by making hair dry, brittle and prone to breakage.
  • Avoiding silicon can help prevent hair build up. Avoid paraben-based shampoos because they might disrupt hormones and damage hair and scalp by making it dry and brittle. If you have specific sensitivities, try to avoid fragranced shampoos.

Remember, the task of shampoo is only cleansing the scalp and hair by eliminating the build up, nothing other than that.
