Some incredible oils, like rosemary oil, castor oil, almond oil, amla oil, bhringraj oil, brahmi oil, clove oil, etc, stimulate blood circulation, leading to hair growth.

Some oils contain anti-inflammatory properties. One of the reasons for hair fall or slow hair growth is inflammation. Oiling reduces inflammation and soothes the scalp.

Regular application of oil in the hair provides shine, leaving hair soft, shiny and manageable.

Relaxation and stress relief:

Another reason for hair fall nowadays is stress. Massaging oil on the scalp provides ultimate relaxation to the body, releases stress, and enhances sleep quality.

How much oil should we use during Hair oiling?

The quantity of hair oil to be applied depends on the hair type, porosity, length, and density. One must understand the hair type, porosity, length, and density before using hair oil.

Applying oil excessively on the scalp and hair, thinking of the benefits, will not be a good choice because the heavier your application will be, the more shampoo it will require during hair wash and therefore, hair will get drier. Apply oil on the scalp and hair as per the required amount.

Hair type

There are mainly 4 categories of hair, which are further divided into sub-categories-

  • Type 1: Straight hair
  • Type 2: Wavy hair
  • Type 3: Curly hair
  • Type 4: coily hair

Straight hair:

Due to the texture of the hair, this type of hair gets oily easily, and the oil gets equally distributed throughout the hair. As a result, straight hair gets less tangles.

Wavy hair:

Wavy hair comes between straight and curly, meaning it is a mixture of both hair types. It also has the characteristics of both types of hair like wavy hair does not get greasy like straight hair but has a dry texture as curly hair.

Curly hair:

Curly hair is meant to be voluminous and never goes out of style. It can hold style for a longer time, although it is a huge task to maintain curly dry, as this type of hair is drying in nature and needs extra care and hydration.

Coily hair:

Coily hair is also widely known as “Arfo” hair because most people in Africa have Coily hair. This type of hair is extremely dry, that requires multiple treatments to settle. Coily hair is very volatile and fragile and can be maintained easily with some effort.

Hair porosity

Hair porosity simply means how well your hair can absorb and hold moisture content.

There are three kinds of hair porosity are there.

  • High porosity hair
  • Medium porosity hair
  • Low porosity hair

You can determine your hair porosity with a easy DIY, easily at home.

All you need is a glass of water and some hair stands.
Take a glass and fill it with water. Grab some hair strands and drop them into the water, then wait for a few minutes.

  • If the hair stands tend to float in between, then you have medium porosity.
  • If the hair stands sinks, then you are likely to have high porosity hair.
